Our Board

Jeff Goumas, President & Treasurer

Jeff brings over 20 years of experience ranging across the spectrum of education, including classroom instruction, professional development, curriculum development, and print and digital educational publishing. Most recently, he served as the Director of Product Management for McGraw-Hill Education's Adult & Workforce Education division, where he serendipitously discovered his love for adult education. His driving passion is to bring out the best in learners and instructors, and for the past 15 years he has dedicated his energies working to develop and scale results-driven educational programs that are truly aligned to learner needs while promoting best instructional practices. He is excited to now have the chance to help educators and learners unleash the limitless potential free and open educational resources have in providing engaging and lasting learning experiences. 

Jen Vanek, PhD, Vice President

Jen Vanek, PhD, is the Director of Digital Learning and Research at the EdTech Center @ World Education. In that work she directs the IDEAL Consortium, a community of practice for ed tech leaders working to build opportunities for blended learning in ABE programs. Jen provides professional learning and technical support for practitioners on topics including digital literacy, classroom technology integration, and distance learning. In her research, Jen creates and leads field testing on promising educational technology and explores characteristics of 21st Century learning. Jen is happy to serve on the board of CrowdED Learning because of its potential to create opportunity for both teachers and learners to make the most of online resources without having to "recreate the wheel".

Cristobal Rivera, Secretary

Cristobal Rivera is a 15 year marketing veteran who has done brand management for a multitude of large CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) brands.  In his current role, Cris is a Marketing Director at MillerCoors, where he oversees planning and positioning, communications, media, activation and shopper marketing for the company’s national craft business, mainly Blue Moon and Leinenkugel’s brands.  Cris was named by AdWeek a “Young Influential Marketer” in 2015 for the marketing innovation he led on reviving Miller Lite. He received a Bachelor degree in Economics from Duke University, and a M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
